Important Information

The gates will open from 8:30am. The class register will be taken at 8:45am and learning will begin immediately after this. It is vital that pupils are on time to school so that they do not miss any important learning.

Pupils should bring to school each day:

A water bottle with their name on
Suitable clothing for the weather to ensure they are comfortable during outdoor break times
A packed lunch (if required)

Pupils are to be collected from school at 3:15pm

P.E.

5 Chestnut and 5 Sycamore have P.E. every Monday and Wednesday
Children should come to School in their P.E kits. Jewellery and watches must be removed for P.E.

Homework is given out every Friday and is due back the following week. Homework is optional to complete

This half term we will be learning...

English

In English we will be writing fairy tales and balanced arguments.

We will be focussing on writing a fairy tale using Little Red Riding Hood for inspiration.

Then we will be writing a balanced argument based on the question : Should animals be kept in zoos?

Maths

In Maths our focus will be around shape, position and direction, decimals and converting units following the white rose maths scheme.

Science

In Science this half term out topic will be 'Levers and Pulleys'

History and Geography.

In History and Geography we are learning about the the The Industrial Revolution.

Art

In Art we are looking at using key skills to create installations.

PSHE

In PSHE we will be continuing with my happy mind looking at Relate.

In R.E we are answering the question What values do people live by?

Reading Focus

In Summer 1 our Guided Reading text will be:

Wonder by R.J. Palacio

In Summer 2 our guided reading texts will be:

The Night Bus Hero by Onjali Rauf

To spark our imaginations, we had a very exciting Experience Day… but when we arrived, we discovered something strange:
🐾 Jam and bread scattered on the tables
🐾 Mysterious writing appeared on the board
🐾 Footprints and clues left all around the classroom!
It looked like a mischievous animal had thrown a party and made a huge mess! The children became detectives for the day, searching for clues, imagining what creature could have caused the chaos, and designing their own animals to star in their sequel stories. 🐾🎨
We can't wait to see how their creative ideas come to life in their writing! 📝✨ 2 Likes
