At Brambles Primary Academy, we weekly read and discuss 'Picture News'. Picture News enables us to develop our social, moral, social and cultural elements of our learning. It teaches us about current affairs and allows us to see more clearly into the wider community and world around us.
We are able to develop other elements too, including an understanding into different beliefs, feelings and faiths. The pictures and news articles we receive encourages discussions, challenges ideas and pre-conceptions we may have already developed and ultimately, broadens our horizons and enables us to prepare and develop knowledge of the ever changing, fast-paced world that we live in.

We ensure parents are aware of our current weekly newsletter from Picture News on Twitter and via Class Dojo. Teachers regularly tweet discussions and ideas on their pages. We also display the 'British Value' link to ensure our children are aware of the reasoning behind the news article we are discussing.
Loyalty
We’re proud to celebrate receiving our 3-year loyalty badge from Picture News! 🎉
For the past three years, Picture News has played an important role in helping us bring the world into our classroom in a meaningful and engaging way. Their thoughtful, age-appropriate resources make it easier to explore current affairs with our pupils—encouraging discussion, curiosity, and critical thinking. Each picture also provides valuable links to British Values, helping children to develop a deeper understanding of respect, democracy, and life in modern Britain.
