Important Information

The School Day

The class register will be taken at 8:45am and learning will begin immediately after this.              It is vital that pupils are on time to school so that they do not miss any important learning.

Pupils should bring to school each day:

  • Their reading books and reading record
  • A water bottle with their name on
  • Suitable clothing for the weather
  • A packed lunch (if required)

Pupils are to be collected from school at 3:15pm

PE Days

 

In 1 Ivy, PE is taught on a Tuesday and Wednesday
Please send your child to school wearing their PE kit.
For more information on uniform please click Uniform.
Please make sure your child's name in in their PE kits, school uniforms, coats, hats, scarves and gloves.

A day for all children to come to school in odd socks to stand up against bullying and discrimination

Children in Need
Children can wear Pudsey ears, a yellow or spotty item and make a small donation for children in need.

Christmas Decoration Day
An off-timetable day where children create Christmas tree decorations to hang on the school Christmas tree.

Thursday 11th December
Christmas Jumper Day
Children are invited to wear a Christmas Jumper to school.

Our school Christmas dinner!

Monday 15th December
KS2 Carol Concert
Join our Year 3, 4 & 5 children in the playground from 2.30pm where they will sing Christmas Carols under the canopy

Tuesday 16th December
KS1 Nativity
Year 1 & 2 parents are invited to attend the KS1 Nativity performance at 9:15am or 2.30pm

Wednesday 17th December
EYFS Nativity
Reception parents are invited to attend the Reception Nativity performance at 9.15am in the Hall

Thursday 18th December
Class Christmas Parties & Last day of term
All children can wear non-uniform for the last day of term! Children will also be having a class party.

 

This half term we will be learning...

  

English
In English we will be starting with a biography. We will explore what a good biography is, the reason we write a biography and all the features. 
We will then write a poem about 'If I were in charge of the world'. In this unit we can really use our imagination.

Maths
Our Maths curriculum follows the White Rose Maths scheme, which is designed to help children develop a deep understanding of key mathematical concepts.

We have a busy half term looking at addition and subtraction and shape.


Science

This half term our topic is titled 'Animals including humans'.  We will be looking at offspring and what they need to survive. We will also look at what it means to be healthy including our diet.

Geography

This half term our topic is 'Our town'.
We will consolidate our knowledge from year 1 about the 4 countries that make up the United Kingdom and the Continents. We will also look at the human and physical features of Huddersfield and how important it is to respect our planet.

 Art
In Art, we are focusing on drawing skills and illustrations. We we also learn about local artist called Roger Davies, and have a visit from him.

PSHE
In PSHE, we use the My Happy Mind curriculum. This half term we will be focusing on the unit 'Meet My Brain'. Children will follow a series of lessons and activities, whilst filling in their My Happy Mind Journals along the way.


RE
This half term, our key question will be What did Jesus teach and how did he live?
