Important Information

The School Day

The class register will be taken at 8:45am and learning will begin immediately after this.              It is vital that pupils are on time to school so that they do not miss any important learning.

Pupils should bring to school each day:

  • Their reading books and reading record
  • A water bottle with their name on
  • Suitable clothing for the weather
  • A packed lunch (if required)

Pupils are to be collected from school at 3:15pm

PE Days

 

In 1 Ivy, PE is taught on a Tuesday and Wednesday
Please send your child to school wearing their PE kit.
For more information on uniform please click Uniform.
Please make sure your child's name in in their PE kits, school uniforms, coats, hats, scarves and gloves. 

Key Dates

 Friday 26th September

European languages Day – each class are learning about a different European country. They will then come together and share what they have been learning. Please look out for posts on our Facebook page!

Friday 3rd October

Harvest Festival – We will be collecting food as part of our Harvest Festival celebrations to share with the local foodbank. Please send in any dried or tinned food so we can share these with The Welcome Centre.

Friday 10th October

Hello Yellow Day – Children to wear something yellow to school to raise awareness of World Mental Health Day to show people they're not alone with their mental health.

Tuesday 22nd October

Year 1, 2 and 3 Black History Month Showcase – Children in Y1,2&3 will be showcasing their learning in an assembly where parents are invited to attend. This will begin at 9am.

Wednesday 23rd October

Year 4, 5 and 6 Black History Month Showcase – Children in Y4,5&6 will be showcasing their learning in an assembly where parents are invited to attend. This will begin at 9am.

Thursday 23rd October

Last day of school for Autumn 1 term. Children will return to school on Monday 3rd November.

Friday 24th October

Teacher Training Day – School is closed to all children.

This half term we will be learning...

  

English
In English we will be starting with a narrative re-tell on 'The True Story of the Three Little Pigs'. Children will recap their fundamental knowledge from Year 1. 
We will then move on to writing a diary entry about 'The Great Fire of London'.

Maths
Our Maths curriculum follows the White Rose Maths scheme, which is designed to help children develop a deep understanding of key mathematical concepts.

We have a busy half term looking at place value to 100 and addition and subtraction.


Science

This half term our topic is titled 'Materials'.  We will be exploring the properties of materials and find out about people who developed useful new materials. We will also look at how materials can be harmful to our planet.

History

This half term our topic is 'Panic on Pudding Lane'.
We will look at how the Great Fire of London started and how this major event changed the fire service. We will also look at how this impacted on how London had to be rebuilt after.

 Art
In Art, we are focusing on drawing skills and illustrations. We we also learn about local artist called Roger Davies, and have a visit from him in Autumn 2.

PSHE
In PSHE, we use the My Happy Mind curriculum. This half term we will be focusing on the unit 'Meet My Brain'. Children will follow a series of lessons and activities, whilst filling in their My Happy Mind Journals along the way.


RE
This half term, our key question will be 'why are festivals important?'. Children will look at different festivals throughout the year from different religions.
