Black History Month

Every October we celebrate Black History Month. This national celebration aims to promote and celebrate Black contributions to British society, and to foster an understanding of Black history in general.

We are proud to learn about the influential black people who have made significant contributions to our society. 

Aaron Douglas (May 26, 1899 – February 2, 1979)

He was an American painter, illustrator and visual educator. He was a major figure in the Harlem Renaissance. He developed his art career painting murals and creating illustrations that addressed social issues around race and segregation in the United States by utilizing African-centric imagery.
